Urban Life

Urban Life is a ministry based in the City Heights neighborhood of San Diego. “Urban Life exists to see our neighborhoods become great places to raise families through cultivating vibrant missional communities that love God, neighbor, and ‘hood.” Urban Life is staffed by a number of young people (late 20s – early 30s) who have moved into and live in the neighborhood.

San Diego’s City Heights neighborhood is the youth epicenter of San Diego County. With a population of nearly 80,000 in an area of 4 sq. mi., City Heights is a VERY diverse, multicultural community of urban San Diego. Many families here are refugees or immigrants from east Africa, Vietnam, Cambodia or Latin America, and a large number live in poverty. City Heights has the highest concentration of youth in San Diego County.

Journey has worked with Urban Life in the past. Recently, they approached us with a request that we assist them in providing tutoring to 12 of their high school youth. They are looking for a commitment of one day a week (T or Th) from 5:30 – 7 PM for a semester. These activities take place in one of the buildings on the church property.
