Riptide — Junior High Ministry

For 7th & 8th Grade Students

Riptide is a ministry for 7th & 8th graders here at Journey Community Church. Everything about it is designed specifically with that age group in mind! It is a place for to have fun, make tons of new friends, and see God in ways they may not have before. Here are a couple of ways that happens in Riptide:

#1 Small Groups
Wednesday Nights during the school year we meet  in smaller groups at Journey Community Church from 6:30 – 8:30 pm. It is a time filled with worship, Bible Study, prayer, and friendships! This is a great opportunity for a 7th and 8th grader to deepen their faith while building community with those in their small group. Also, we serve dinner for only $4.

#2 Sunday Mornings
We have two identical services on Sunday Morning. 9 am and 11 am. We have crazy games, a great student worship team, and times to connect with God! These services are designed for those who are checking out who God is, as well as those who already have a relationship with him.

#3 Camps, Events, and activities
Our school year is packed with things like camps, services projects, and crazy events like GURLY, BURLY, and DYE WARS. These events create a venue to build friendship, see and hear God in unique ways, help the community around us, and provide an opportunity for 7th & 8th to to put hands and feet to what God is calling all of us to do: Love him and love others.

We believe every 7th & 8th grader was created on purpose for a purpose. God created you exactly how he wanted you to be and that includes putting you in 7th or 8th grade at this very moment! So come, be yourself,  and know you are welcomed for being you!

New Series “You Make Me Brave”

June 3, 2014 1:21 pm

You Make Me Brave

“Do Not Be Afraid.”  ….Over and over again throughout the scriptures this statement arises… “Do Not Be Afraid.”  However doesn’t it seem that over and over again the things in this world terrify us, scare us, make us feel anxious, timid, weak.  This fear creeps in and begins to steal your life away.

But this is not what God has for you.  This fear is not supposed to stop us.  This is not who God created you to be.  He is aggressive moving against those things that own us.  He is moving against those things that hold us down.  He is drawing near to us… hoping that you will hear his voice shout over you, “Do Not Be Afraid!”

P.S. I Love You

There is something about music that connects all of us. Something about hearing music that draws us in, inspires us, gives us emotions and words to what we are feeling. But what happens when all we’re left with are the lyrics… no sound, no tone… just words.

Stuck in the very middle of the scriptures we find one of the most intriguing books of the bible. The lyrics to 150 songs that we call the Psalms. Love, joy, doubt, anger, praise, tears, hope… all reside within these words. Join us these next weeks as we take a look into the Psalms (abbreviated PS) and listen to the resounding sound that reminds us of a God that is desperate to say “I Love You.”

May 4- PS 23 “House of God, Forever”

May 11- PS 119 “Portion”

May 18- PS 18 “Rescue”

May 25- What’s your song?
