Riptide — Middle School Ministry

For 6th – 8th Grade Students
Riptide is the middle school ministry here at Journey Community Church. And guess what, if you are 6th, 7th, or 8th grade, this ministry is all about you! Everything about it is designed specifically for middle schoolers! It is a place for middle schoolers to have fun, make tons of new friends, and see God in ways they may not have before. Here a couple of ways that happens in Riptide:
#1 Grow Groups
Wednesday Nights during the school year we meet in smaller groups in homes around the county from 7pm-8:30pm. It is a time filled with Bible Study, prayer, and friendships! This is a great opportunity for a middle schooler to deepen their faith while building community with those in their small group.
#2 Sunday Mornings
We have two identical services on Sunday Morning. 9am and 11am. We have crazy games, a great student worship band, and times to connect with God! These services are designed for those who are checking out who God is, as well as those who already have a relationship with him.
#3 Camps, Events, and activities
Our school year is packed with things like camps, services projects, and crazy events like GURLY, BURLY, and DYE WARS. These events create a venue to build friendship, see and hear God in unique ways, help the community around us, and provide an opportunity for middle schoolers to to put hands and feet to what God is calling all of us to do: Love him and love others.
We believe every middle schooler was created on purpose for a purpose. God created you exactly how he wanted you to be and that includes putting you in middle school at this very moment! So come, be yourself, and know you are welcomed for being you!

Sometimes life is tough when we think about the topic of friendship. It can stir up all sorts of emotions because they begin and end for all sorts of reasons. Sometimes friends move away. Sometimes friends make other friends. Sometimes, we know exactly why a friendship ended. Sometimes we don’t have any idea on why we no longer hang out with someone.
For the next few weeks we are going to look at some ways that are guaranteed to ruin friendships. We will learn how to be stay clear of being a friendship wrecker and in the process learn how to be the great friend that God calls us to be.
