Riptide — Junior High Ministry

For 7th & 8th Grade Students

Riptide is a ministry for 7th & 8th graders here at Journey Community Church. Everything about it is designed specifically with that age group in mind! It is a place for to have fun, make tons of new friends, and see God in ways they may not have before. Here are a couple of ways that happens in Riptide:

#1 Small Groups
Wednesday Nights during the school year we meet  in smaller groups at Journey Community Church from 6:30 – 8:30 pm. It is a time filled with worship, Bible Study, prayer, and friendships! This is a great opportunity for a 7th and 8th grader to deepen their faith while building community with those in their small group. Also, we serve dinner for only $4.

#2 Sunday Mornings
We have two identical services on Sunday Morning. 9 am and 11 am. We have crazy games, a great student worship team, and times to connect with God! These services are designed for those who are checking out who God is, as well as those who already have a relationship with him.

#3 Camps, Events, and activities
Our school year is packed with things like camps, services projects, and crazy events like GURLY, BURLY, and DYE WARS. These events create a venue to build friendship, see and hear God in unique ways, help the community around us, and provide an opportunity for 7th & 8th to to put hands and feet to what God is calling all of us to do: Love him and love others.

We believe every 7th & 8th grader was created on purpose for a purpose. God created you exactly how he wanted you to be and that includes putting you in 7th or 8th grade at this very moment! So come, be yourself,  and know you are welcomed for being you!

I Live the Journey

Here at Journey we believe we have an opportunity to be a part of changing the world and that church is God’s plan – or his method of choice – to make change. As Christ followers, we must ask ourselves one pivotal question: Do I personally want a piece of that change? Our pastors, our leaders, and our teams are all answering YES! We each want to have an impact. We each want our lives to have meaning. We each want to love harder, and better, and more than we ever thought our once hardened hearts could handle. Now we’re asking each of you to come “Live the Journey” with us!

“Sticks and Stones”

Sticks and Stones

All of us remember those moments in our lives when we have looked at the world around us and smiled. Those moments when our joy felt overflowing. Moments when we couldn’t contain our hope, when our eyes were amazed by what surrounded us, and what it felt like to breathe it all in.  Those moments that felt like the sun is rising, or gentle rain on your skin, or those moments of uncontrollable laughter with a good friend.

However all of us remember those moments that made us question the goodness, like weeds creeping into a beautiful garden.

All around us, things are being shaken and life is being breathed into creation.

And so what would happen if we chose to open our eyes and see?  To see the world, to see the goodness and to see the beauty.

What would happen if light was more than just light, if darkness had a deeper meaning?

What would happen if we could learn more from sticks and stones than we thought?
