Riptide — Junior High Ministry

For 7th & 8th Grade Students

Riptide is a ministry for 7th & 8th graders here at Journey Community Church. Everything about it is designed specifically with that age group in mind! It is a place for to have fun, make tons of new friends, and see God in ways they may not have before. Here are a couple of ways that happens in Riptide:

#1 Small Groups
Wednesday Nights during the school year we meet  in smaller groups at Journey Community Church from 6:30 – 8:30 pm. It is a time filled with worship, Bible Study, prayer, and friendships! This is a great opportunity for a 7th and 8th grader to deepen their faith while building community with those in their small group. Also, we serve dinner for only $4.

#2 Sunday Mornings
We have two identical services on Sunday Morning. 9 am and 11 am. We have crazy games, a great student worship team, and times to connect with God! These services are designed for those who are checking out who God is, as well as those who already have a relationship with him.

#3 Camps, Events, and activities
Our school year is packed with things like camps, services projects, and crazy events like GURLY, BURLY, and DYE WARS. These events create a venue to build friendship, see and hear God in unique ways, help the community around us, and provide an opportunity for 7th & 8th to to put hands and feet to what God is calling all of us to do: Love him and love others.

We believe every 7th & 8th grader was created on purpose for a purpose. God created you exactly how he wanted you to be and that includes putting you in 7th or 8th grade at this very moment! So come, be yourself,  and know you are welcomed for being you!

Jump Winter Camp!!!

Jump 2015.001-001

Riptide’s Winter Camp is right around the corner and space is limited.  Turn in your nonrefundable $50 deposit to guarantee you a spot for camp.

So here’s the details:

Winter Camp’s teaching topic:  “JUMP!”

When:  Friday, January 16th, 5:00pm meeting at Pine Valley-Sunday, January 18th 2pm Journey Parking Lot
Where:  Pine Valley Bible Camp
Cost:    $125 gets you lodging, meals and fun for the weekend.  Paintball $15 extra is an optional activity not included in the price.

Jumping requires a lot of faith.  Jumping over something requires faith you will clear it. Jumping over something requires faith it will hold you when you land.  It’s no wonder many of the stories in the Bible that talk about big faith actions involve people jumping.

We’ll be talking about what it means to be fully committed to the life God desires for us.  We will look at how leaps of faith can change us and the people around us.

Are you ready to JUMP into the life God has planned for you?  If so, here’s the link:  Winter Camp 2015 Form

Also if you need financial help here’s the scholarship link: Riptide Scholarship Application Form

Thanks a Lot! (Riptide’s New Series)

Thanks a Lot

We have so much to be thankful for.  And yet, every November around the time that oranges, reds, and yellows take over we start to rack our brains, asking, “What am I thankful for?”  As if this is a hard question.  This is not the life that Jesus wants for us.  He doesn’t want a life where it’s hard to recall what we are thankful for, or what we have been given.  God has blessed us over and abundantly but sometimes (other months besides ones that involve turkey) we are too preoccupied wishing things were different, or complaining about what we’re stuck with, and we miss out on the overwhelming amount that God has given us.

Join us as we remind ourselves that we have A Lot to be Thankful for!

November 9 – Thanksgiving Leftovers (realizing that we have an over abundance to be thankful for) – Jarred Benitez

November 16  – Thanks for Nothing (complaining kills) – Emily Benitez

November 23 – The Kids Table – Stories from Students
