Goals of Journey Missions Trips
No matter where you are in your relationship with God when you go, we trust that you won’t be the same when you come back.
Our hope is that these trips will help Journey people live outward — with a heart for the community and the world.
All trips will be very relational in nature. We want people’s relationship with God to grow. We want the team to connect and grow on a deep level. We want to form and grow relationships with people from other countries and cultures which will enhance and bless the body of Christ there.
Shelter for the Homeless
Transitional Shelter Volunteers Needed
More about Interfaith Shelter Network
For the past 30 years, the San Diego Interfaith Shelter Network (ISN) has provided shelter to more than 9,000 people for more than 237,000 nights. This is made possible through the cooperative efforts of more than 120 congregations working in seven different regions of San Diego. This program provides night-time seasonal shelter, food, and professional case management to San Diego’s situationally homeless by rotating in two week increments as guests in our communities’ congregations.
The San Diego Interfaith Shelter Network cares for short-term homeless men, women, and children by arranging shelter for them at churches throughout the county. Journey has participated in this effort for 5 years. Those helped are situationally homeless, loss of income or unanticipated expenses having left them temporarily homeless.
The Shelter at Journey
From July 1 – 15, Journey will be hosting 12 or so homeless men, women and/or children for the 5th year as a part of JCC’s Annual Shelter. Our guests will spend the night in their short-term home and are gone during the day looking for work and taking care of business. There are tons of opportunities to serve people who need our help and friendship!
