JOURNEY FOOD BANK

It is our mission to bring Christ’s hope and compassion to our neighbors by providing food to the congregation and community.

Monthly Distributions

1st Thursday

First Thursday of the month at 7:00 PM.

2nd Friday

Second Friday of the month at
9 AM, produce only.

3rd Saturday

Third Saturday of the month at 8:30 AM.

4th Thursday

Fourth Thursday of the month at 7:00 PM

Senior Distribution

4th Friday
of the month at 10 AM

Please bring ID to show proof that you are 62 or older.  

Diaper Distribution

2nd Friday 9 AM
(during the food distribution)

 

Our distributions provide a mix of non-perishable items and fresh foods. The 2nd Friday distribution is produce and diapers for children. Anyone is welcome, there are no income requirements.

– All our distributions are drive-through service.
– The line opens 1.5 hours before posted distribution times. Early arrivals will be directed off-campus until line opens.
– Please remain in your car and follow directives from the Food Bank personnel.
– We provide food for one family per car unless you’re able to verify separate households. If you’re carpooling with another family, please bring your ID and address verification so that we can verify assistance for multiple families. 
– We provide pre-packed bags only.
– Remember to arrive on time, because once the line has been helped, the Food Bank will close.

DONATIONS NEEDED

The Journey Food Bank relies on your donations of non-perishable food items. Help us keep our shelves stocked. Pick up a few extra items when you grocery shop and drop them off at Journey. We can’t do it without you!

Donations are accepted in front of Twice Treasured Thrift Store and in front of the church office during business hours and during weekend services. Please place donations inside of the bins/carts marked “Food Bank.”

Journey’s Office Food Donation Bins:

Sunday: 8:30 am – 1:00 pm

Tuesday – Thursday: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

Friday: 9:00 am – 8:00 pm

Twice Treasured Food Donation Bins:

Wednesday – Saturday: 10 am – 6 pm

ITEMS NEEDED

•    Canned meats (tuna, ham, chicken)
•    Canned soup
•    Canned or dried fruits
•    Canned vegetables
•    Rice
•    Cereal
•    Peanut butter (and Jelly)
•    Powdered milk
•    Packaged nuts and seeds
•    Dried pasta
•    Pasta sauce / tomato sauce

We are unable to accept home canned or baked products. Please do not donate any expired or already open food packages.

You can also support our program financially. Your donation will help us purchase food from our partners and distribution supplies.

Our Location

The Journey Food Bank is located on the campus of Journey Community Church at 8363 Center Drive, La Mesa, CA 91942.

Look for the Journey Food Ministries sign on the southwest corner of the shopping center at the corner of Center Drive and Hercules Street.
