You’ve heard the facts: 50% of children who are still in the foster system when they “age out” (19 years old) end up homeless; foster children are twice as likely as U.S. war vets to be afflicted with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. You may have asked yourself “what could I possibly do?” And, if you have gotten past that question, you probably have asked “do I really want to get involved in this?” We would like to help you answer those questions!
Journey will be hosting a Foster Children Seminar. Presentations will be made by representatives from CASA-Voices for Children, San Diego County Health and Human Services, and New Alternatives, a non-profit entity with a group home in Rancho San Diego. The purpose of the seminar is to provide a safe, comfortable place to become familiar with foster care, foster children and opportunities for serving.
