Church in a Parking Lot!
Did you know that Journey participates in MotelChurch San Diego?
Twice each month (2nd and 4th Saturdays) volunteers provide breakfast, worship and a “church service” at a local, by-the-week motel — The Hitching Post Motel on Guava Ave in La Mesa. These motels have become home to the working poor and transitional homeless. For some, this is the last stop before they (and their families) are living in their car or on the street.
For a variety of reasons, guests at these motels are not likely to attend a “traditional” church. This is why we are bringing the church to them! Volunteers serve from 9:15 to 11:15 am. We serve breakfast, have a time of worship (led by Bryce Turner) followed by a bible lesson all the while building connections with the adults and kids who live in the motel complex.
