We wrapped up the 2012 edition of GOD AT THE MOVIES, the series that has become something of a signature series at Journey. I shared verse on the series from Paul’s sermon to in Athens:

Acts 17:26 and He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation,27 that they would seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; 28 for in Him we live and move and exist, as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we also are His children.’

I love how Paul smoothly connects with what would be the equivalent of their pop culture quoting 2 different writings with which they’d be familiar… and he quotes them affirmingly!

The movie The Adjustment Bureau raises all kinds of deep questions about “the Plan” and “free will”. The point this weekend could be boiled down to this:

STEP INTO YOUR FREEDOM!

SUMMER FUN CAMP FLOW – We also asked you Journeyites to step up and make sure that kids from one of the public schools we serve could go to our awesome ministry, Summer Fun Camp. We reached out to this school in which all the kids qualify for a free lunch. As if that weren’t cool enough, we are taking kids from a foster care facility who want to go. Let’s kick it up a notch: 30 of our college kids are going to Haiti to do SFC in Carrefour. Of course we need to take care of the cost of these kids. There are also plenty of kids right at Journey for whom the $65 is prohibitive. So we asked you to send a kid to camp if you could. (You might want to sit down at this point). You guy gave over $15,000 on the way out the door! WOW. WOW. WOW! I LOVE YOUR GENEROSITY!

At the end of every weekend, I always feel drained and full of anticipation for the next weekend!
