Choose a variety of chocolates to accompany the marshmallow roasted to perfection and gently placed between two golden graham crackers.  Favorites in my backyard include Hershey’s chocolate bar, Reese’s peanut butter cup, and York peppermint patty!

Load your family up in the car and head north on the I-5.  U-Pick is open 9:00am to 5:00pm, and it is recommended that you bring an extra pair of shoes! More info…

3. Santee Lakes

Here is a beautiful destination with a variety of activities to suit the individual interests of the entire family! You can ride bikes/scooters around the lakes, or even go for a lovely stroll. Housed here is a permanent collection of historic boards, photographs and videos on Highway 101 in Oceanside. During free admission day on Tuesdays, visitors can explore its colorful and educational display on the sport of surfing and the legends who braved the waters over generations.  If you can’t make it on a Tuesday, children 12 and under receive free entry with the full price paid admission of at least one accompanying adult. 5. Take a walk through Balboa Park

We are lucky enough to live near the largest urban cultural park in the United States, so why not take advantage of the many free and glorious gardens located there! Also, visitors can take advantage of the Park’s variety of other free offerings, including ranger-led walking tours at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesdays.  This activity is perfectly paired with a picnic and time playing on the playground!
